You'll find here an history of all the updates I've done to the website since its creation. Of course, some information can be now obsolete, but I thought that you might be interested to know how the website evolved through the years to become like it is today.
If you want to be kept informed when major modifications will be made to this website, you can subscribe to the newsletter, but you first need to create a member account.
You can also use the RSS (Really Simple Syndication) feeds of this website to automatically receive the news in your web browser, mail client, or any other RSS-compatible software.
Two feeds are available: one can be used to receive the news in English, while the other can be used to receive them in French. They're updated each time a news is being published on the website. You can choose to receive one of these feeds, or you can also subscribe to both.
Usually, to add RSS feeds to your favorite software, you must search for the RSS feeds icon (see aside), click on it, and select the feed you want to use. Some examples:
- With Internet Explorer, the icon is located on the upper right toolbar (you can use the Alt+X shortcut)
- With Firefox & Opera, the icon is on the right of the address bar.
Most RSS-compatible software also offers an option to re-download the feeds periodically (eg. each day, each week...) so that you can get updated news on a regular basis, without having to do anything else.
As I usually don't update the website on a very regular basis (eg. daily), I'd ask you to use a reasonable delay to download these feeds periodically (eg. once or twice a month) in order to save some of the website's bandwidth.
The website turns 22! This year's new feature is focusing on accessibility. The whole website display has been redesigned to be easier to read on smaller-sized scrrens, like smartphones, tablets and small laptops. You can now benefit from an enhanced browsing experiences on those devices.
Many of you have been contacting me by e-mail for various reasons. Thanks for your support!
As a result, to ensure faster answers, I added some social media interaction on the website.
On the home page, you'll now find the latest events and news I'm adding regularly on Facebook, and other stuff you sent to me.
And, from now on, if you want to contact me, you can do so through Facebook Messenger, directly using the form available on the Contact page, or from the website's Facebook page.
And if you can't, or don't want to use Facebook to get in touch with me, no problem! I can still be reached by e-mail from the very same Contact page.
For its 20th birthday, FufuWorld now comes with the goodwill of Louis de Funès. He'll be with you during your whole visit!
He might change his face according to his current mood or daylight, depending on what you're currently reading... Have fun!
FufuWorld is celebrating its 16th birthday today with a new bunch of nearly 200 HD photos from Le Corniaud by Gérard Oury, in the Photos section.
While you're visiting, take the time to discover some sounds and videos of Louis de Funès' films!
For this website's 15th birthday, I slightly enhanced the Sounds page to include more photos on the whole page, instead of pushing all of them on the top. So, now, when a sound sample comes with a lot of photos, you'll have a few clips on the top, some more just above the dialogues, and the other photos on the bottom of the page. I hope it'll enhance your reading comfort!
Today, I enhanced the Photos and Sounds pages with a new pagination system, so they'll now be faster to load when you'll want to display a huge number of files.
I also slightly updated the Flat and Coloured Theme introduced on this website some months ago, with some minor cosmetic fixes.
FufuWorld is turning 14 today. Considering that its dark blue textured color sheme had been released on it's 4th birthday, I thought it was time to cleanup the dust!
As a result, you can now enjoy a brand new color scheme and theme, focusing on flat and colored shapes, to enhance overall text readability and visual comfort.
Built with newer browser technologies, this new theme will allow me to optimize the website for several, modern devices like smartphones and tablets. I'll continue to enhance it with further updates, adding more dynamic contents.
Feel free to contact me to tell me what you think about it!
FufuWorld is thirteen years old today, and to celebrate its birthday, you can now discover La Zizanie by Claude Zidi, thanks to ten sound samples grabbed from the film, in the Sounds, which completes the 600 HD photos from the same film.
While you're visiting, take the time to discover some other photos, sounds and videos of Louis de Funès' films, such as Oscar or Hibernatus, both directed by Edouard Molinaro, who passed away on December 7th, 2013.
FufuWorld is now open to the social networks, as you can see with the Facebook, Twitter and Google+ buttons you'll now find on top of each page or on the left menu. You can now recommend this website to all your contacts with a single click!
Other social networks could be added in the future; until then, thanks for your support, which motivates me further on, to work on more stuff focusing on Louis de Funès, such as videos, photos and sound samples.
As you may already know, we're celebrating today the 30th year following Louis de Funès' death on January 27th, 1983.
You can now review his whole career from a new section many of you asked for: video clips from his best films and some documentaries about his life!
I selected some videos from YouTube and grouped them into playlists, hosted on the new FufuWorld YouTube channel.
These lists can thus be updated very regularly and easily; don't hesitate to suggest me some new videos so I can add them to the lists!
You should also remember that many French-speaking TV channels will soon broadcast several movies and talkshows related to Louis de Funès to celebrate the event. So, I recommend you to stay close to your TV guide and search for anything related to Louis de Funès within the next coming days!
To celebrate this website's 12th birthday, the Louis de Funès filmography section comes in a brand-new version.
The film list has been totally rebuilt from scratch and completed with numerous information, including the original and alternative titles, the films' directors, and the characters played by Louis de Funès, each one coming with a link to its IMDb page. This list can now be sorted using these criteria, in the desired order, for a better experience.
I'll also inform you that we'll soon be celebrating the 30th year of Louis de Funès' death, on the next 27th of January. To cover this event, most French TV channels will broadcast several films and TV shows related to the actor. If you have access to French TV channels, I invite you to watch your TV program guide for updates!
I'll thus recommend you to visit the TVTV website (in French) which allows you to narrow search for Louis de Funès films and TV shows broadcastings these next days. Of course, I'll do by best to update FufuWorld until then, and I'm still interested by your comments and suggestions on this point!
Today is FufuWorld's 11th birthday. As a result, you'll now find nearly 600 new HD photos grabbed from La Zizanie by Claude Zidi, in the Photos section.
This update is a tribute to Annie Girardot, Louis de Funès' partner in this movie, died on February 28th, 2011, aged 79, following a long battle of several years against Alzheimer's disease.
To complete this update, new sound samples from this movie will be available soon; watch site updates!
Have you noticed the new "Louis de Funès-related events and news" section on the homepage?
This new section will now host distinct news from those related to the website, only focusing on Louis de Funès, that will thus be posted without having to rely on a whole FufuWorld update.
To introduce this section, I invite you to discover the theatre works of the swiss Un Air de Rien theather company, a tribute to Louis de Funès' career, characters and talented skills.
Today is FufuWorld's 10th birthday. Over the years, this website has provided more and more information about Louis de Funès; from the initial information pages to the latest high-definition photos and digital sound extracts from Louis' movies, as well as full content in both English and French languages.
High-definition (HDTV) photos were introduced with the previous site update; as a result, I decided to add more HD content to celebrate the website's 10th birthday. Following your votes from the latest poll located on the right side, I selected Jean Girault's Gendarme de Saint-Tropez and added more than 450 new photos from this movie, waiting for you in the Photos section.
Many thanks for your support during all these years, and stay tuned for future new HD contents!
High definition television, or HDTV, is the future of media broadcasting. Either being Blu-ray movies, satellite or terrestrial, this new standard keeps spreading itself, thanks to all new "Full HD" TVs and monitors.
As a result, you'll now find on this website new high definition photos from Louis de Funès' movies. For this first launch, Jean Girault's Jo has been covered.
So, you can now access to several hundred of new photos extracted from this movie in the Photos section of the website.
And don't forget to keep an eye on it, as other high-definition movies will be covered within the next months!
Following the results of the latest poll available on the website, the next film to be covered in the Photos and Sounds sections of the website is "Oscar". And, as a celebration of the website's 9th birthday, there are plenty of new contents to discover, with more than 480 photos and 21 sound samples available.
Don't forget that the poll located on the right side of the website remains open to grab all your suggestions and wishes towards the next film you'd like to be covered.
It's up to you!
New samples from "Le Grand Restaurant", "Le Petit Baigneur" and "Hibernatus" are now available in the Sounds section, now with some photos illustrating some of your favorite characters' dialogues. And, for your own pleasure, the layout of the sound listening page has been improved.
Don't forget that the next films to be covered will result from your choices! The poll on the right side being here to register your pick.
Vote for the film you'd like to discover on the next update!
Today, "La Soupe aux Choux" is available among the new sound samples in the Sounds section. Le Glaude, Le Bombé and La Denrée will welcome you with a glass of wine or a bowl of soup, to your convenience!
And, for a better experience, the "Listen" link will let you play each sound sample while reading the characters' dialogues.
Bon appétit !
Sound samples from "Jo" are now available on the Sounds page. Four films remaining in the publication process: Le Petit Baigneur, Hibernatus, Le Grand Restaurant et la Soupe aux Choux.
These four will close this first multimedia contents' renewal. However, among all Louis de Funès' box-office hits, some of them are still missing!
And, instead of choosing them myself, I preferred to let you decide. That's why you'll find, on the right part of the website, a new poll. Which film would you like to discover, in both photos and sounds, for the next update? It's up to you.
Thanks by advance for your patience and support, and hope to see you soon!
Several days were actually required to complete upload of new multimedia contents announced for the website's 8th anniversary. You can thus now find them on the Photos and Sounds webpages.
However, sound samples from the following films are still missing: Le Petit Baigneur, Hibernatus, Jo, Le Grand Restaurant and La Soupe aux Choux. Expect them to be available in the next days.
Thanks for your patience, and, once again, let me wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2009!
Earlier this year, to celebrate Louis de Funès' 25th death anniversary, I told you that I was working on a complete update of the site's multimedia contents. And, today, for the website's 8th birthday, you can now discover this new bunch of photos and sounds, extracted from scratch.
More than 1000 new photos and several dozens of new sound samples can now be discovered on the Photos and Sounds pages; new stuff entirely made from my very own records of Louis de Funès' films, either from DVDs, DVB-T or satellite television recordings, progressively replacing the old files, for which I would like to thank Christian Petit gracefully, for allowing me to use, during all these years, some of the files he made available on DeFunes.org.
The number of new files being quite huge, I must however ask you to wait a few hours more, so that all files can be sent to the server. Meanwhile, you can discover a new feature of the website: you'll now be able to choose to view this website in stretched mode, automatically fitted to the available space on your screen. The "Auto Size/Fixed Size" button on the top part of the website serves this purpose. Using it, you can switch to a fixed width display to an automatically stretching display and vice-versa, from any webpage, to your convenience, no matter if you choose to use frames or not, the two display modes being completely independant and self-completing. This new display mode should help you to view all new photos in a more convenient way.
Hoping that this new content will help you to recall the best films starring Louis de Funès, let me finish by wishing you an excellent holiday season.
25 years ago, on January 27th, 1983, Louis de Funès passed away, after suffering from a third heart attack.
To mark the occasion, I plan to offer you, in the very next weeks, new photos and sounds from the best Louis de Funès films.
As I've been able to grab, these last years, many of his films in digital format, either on DVD or from DVB-T networks, I'm going to give a cleansweep on the website's multimedia contents, by offering you much better quality files, thanks to these new already-digital video sources.
These new contents being rather big in size, they'll be progressively uploaded during the next weeks; of course, until then, the old files will remain available. Stay tuned for the next update!
To celebrate quietly, but surely, the website's seventh year birthday, I prepared a somewhat light update, which should nevertheless interest some of you.
Effectively, among the comments I get from time to time about this website, many are related to the use of frames. This technology, once massively used to split a webpage in several distinct and independant parts, has quickly suffered from a number of limits, which can be annoying in some particular cases, when, for example, trying to print a whole webpage with its headers and menus, or when trying to browse it with a non frames-compliant software.
That's why I'm introducing a new feautre which will allow you to browse this website without these famous frames: you only have to click on the "Disable Frames" icon located in the above toolbar, and you're ready to go.
Hence, I invite you to experience this new navigation mode to choose the one you like most, as I actually decided to keep a frames-enabled navigation mode, available for the regular users who could have been disturbed by such change seven years after. To switch from a display mode to another, you can use the same above-mentioned icon.
As the implementation of the feature required to change many root concepts of the website, I must admit that I've been unable to work on other significant changes for this year ending update, mainly because of a lack of time. Also, you should be aware that new bugs may arise because of this update. That way, I invite you to report me any suspect behaviour you may be experiencing while browsing this website, with or without frames, of course!
That said, let me leave you with all my best wishes, hoping happy holidays for everyone.
First 2007 update, mainly to correct some bugs I've found for the last months.
As a side note, I'd also like to thank all the visitors who answered to the poll available under the right menu! As a result, I think I'll keep this poll online for a few additional weeks, and update it afterwards.
The next major site update should be mainly focused towards interactivity, with members area and forum/guestbook enhancements. Stay tuned!
The website has been online for already six years, and, as usual, to celebrate this event, I've prepared some nice new features!
First of all, you'll be now able to use the new internal site search engine to find information on this website using keywords. I hope that this tool will help you to find the information you've been searching for when you came on this website.
For this sixth anniversary update, polls are once again available. They'll allow you to give me your opinion on this website or the subjects it covers, with only a few mouse clicks! The poll I'm publishing today will help me to know for how many time you've been visiting this website; even if there are great chances that you first came to this website when it became available in English, I would really like to have your opinion!
And, to finish with this site update, I've also embedded some RSS feeds to the site's webpages. Those feeds will allow you to receive, on your web browser, e-mail client, or any other compatible software, all the news which have been published on FufuWorld since its creation, automatically and seamlessly. For more information about the use of these feeds, checkout the news page.
Well, that's all for this time! Before letting you discovering the new features brought by this site update, I'll have a last word about the search engine.
This website used to have an internal search engine by the past, provided by a third-party website. But this new engine has been entirely developed by myself; as a result, it may still contain some bugs, despite of all the tests I've made.
Thus, as usual, I invite you to contact me if you encounter a problem while using this search engine, or any other feature available on this website.
Here is a minor update of the website. I've added two websites dedicated to Louis de Funès on the Links page, two websites that you should really visit. The first one being a website in Italian language, and the second one being the website of David Argence, which collects a lot of items and collectibles related to Louis de Funès.
I also took advantage of this site update to correct a bug which prevented the Opera web browser from displaying the website menus properly. I hope that this correction did not brake the site's compatibility with other web browsers. As usual, if you find any bug on the website, do not hesitate to contact me.
In order to complete the release of the English version of the website, as of May 16th, I've just updated the banners, so that they can also be available in English.
Hence, I invite you to visit the site banners page (available from the Information section of the right menu) if you wish to promote FufuWorld on your own webpages, or to update the banners you were using until then, if you had already done so.
If you chose to directly pickup the images from this site's web server, you shouldn't have to update your pages, as the HTML code and filename of the existing banners have not been modified.
Great news for non-French speaking people! I am extremely proud and pleased to announce that my two websites, Arachnosoft and FufuWorld, after being online for more than five years in French (my mother tongue), are, as of May 16th, 2006, available in English language as well!
Indeed, although both of my websites were technically "translation-ready" since their fifth version (released on December 14th, 2004, as stated in the news archive), I never really took the time to prepare an English version along with the "official" and usual French version. Thus, several new updates have been released since then, meaning more translation work to do... when I'd have decided to do it. Well, today, it's done...
I was seriously planning to do it since I released a new musical track on Arachnosoft two months ago, something which could interest non-French-speaking people... and, even if it did not took me these two last months to translate my websites, it indeed took me some time! More than one week to be exact. Maybe you'd say that it's not that long... but you must be aware that it took me the WHOLE week to do that, sometimes more than 10 hours a day ;-)
So, as you would have guessed, I put a considerable effort for this update, thus considering it as the sixth major version of the website. BUT, even if I took the time to make the best translation possible, you must be aware that I remain a French-born guy, and thus, that this translation may contain grammar mistakes or false-sounding expressions, without considering that I may have mixed both "American English" and "British English". As a result, if you find ANY mistake (even the most obvious one) concerning the writing quality of this English version, I invite you to contact me to report it.
The site should be able to detect your preferred language, according to your web browser settings. If it does not, you can switch between the two available languages using the small "country icons" available above the left menu. If you choose a different language from the one which has been automatically selected by the website, please check that your web browser is configured to accept cookies, so that the language setting can be kept from page to page.
I hope that this English version will enable you to (re)discover my preferred French actor, Louis de Funès. The whole website is available in English language, but several information have been kept in French for the moment: the film titles and the sound samples, among others. And, due to the nature of these information for a French actor, I don't currently have plans to search for English sound samples nor film titles. But if you have some to offer, you can always send them to me and I'll try to add them!
That said, maybe are you wondering if there's new stuff, in addition to this translation. Well, no! Believe me, it was already hard work to finish this translation, so I'm releasing it now, so that you can first discover it, help me to correct mistakes, and then I'll think about another update ;-). Anyway, I may add some little language-oriented features or correct bugs in the next coming days, without announcing them as an update. So, stay tuned!
And, as a final word, if you're just discovering this website, I invite you to read the site news archive to learn about the website's evolution before this major update.
Welcome to all worldwide visitors, and thanks for your support!
Following requests from some site visitors, I created a new section in the forum so that you can discuss about everything related to "merchandising": announces, trades, sales and buy offers concerning objects related to Louis de Funès. I've moved into this section all the existing messages related to this subject.
Apart from this release, the website also had some internal modifications aimed at enhancing its compatibility with the rules the W3C. If most of these enhancements will appear transparent to you, the scrolling marquee under the top banner got a new feature from those changes: you can now stop its scrolling movement temporarily, simply by positioning the mouse cursor on it, which enhances its readability.
I've also corrected a few bugs. So, as usual, I remain available on the forum or by e-mail for any comments, or to report me any problem you'd encounter while visiting this website.
I've added some films which were missing in the filmography. Some may be still missing, moreover, as some films may have several names, it may also have duplicates I wouldn't have detected. In that case, I invite you to report me any mistake you'd be finding in this filmography. And about this, thanks to Michel for indicating me some of the films I've added.
Along with that, I reuploaded two information pages which disappeared from the site with the version 5.0: the awards page, as well as the site banners page, for webmasters and webmistresses who whould like to promote FufuWorld on their own website.
I also corrected with this update some bugs which could have been sources of JavaScript errors. However, if your web browser still detects an error I'd not have corrected, I invite you to contact me to report it.
For this first 2006 update, apart from some bug fixes (particularly on the forum), I uploaded a donations page to enable you, if you wish, to offer me a financial contribution if you estimate that the work I'm doing for you is worth it.
Indeed, managing and updating this website costs me time, but also me: for example, the domain name and web hosting for this site are not free, and must be paid each year from my own pocket.
The payment is done online, and is secure; you can give the amount of money you want, by choosing the currency (euros, dollars...) and the payment method (credit card, Visa, MasterCard...), because the transaction is done through PayPal, which is one of the most famous online payment services.
Once again, you are absolutely not obliged to do it, the site will remain available freely for everyone, even if you don't participate; but by offering a financial contribution, you encourage me to continue developing and updating this website.
Thanks for your support!
I promised not to do this again. And I've done it again. The last time I "officially" updated the website was exactly one year ago. And even if this new update brings its bunch of huge news, as you'll read after, I don't really have any excuse for a such late update...
However, I think that what is awaiting you for FufuWorld's fifth birthday should enjoy you, especially if you visited the website while it was still in version 4. Indeed, I'm proud to present you what I've been working on regularly for several months: a brand new version of the discussion board (forum), which disappeared from the fifth version of the website, because of the lack of time I experienced with last year's update!
Even if this forum is based on the one which was present with the previous fourth version of the website, it has nothing more to do with it anymore, as it is loaded with lots of new features and enhancements. Have a look... it now supports multiple categories, so that you can better organize your messages; with the new user profile support, you'll be able to keep track of your messages, to edit or delete them; with the support of most bbCode tags (used in many forums including phpBB and vBulletin), you can now have a better control of your messages' contents... Many more things are awaiting you on this new forum, which kept all the ergonomy and features from the previous version, so that long-time visitors of this website may not be lost with this new version.
This new site version is also an occasion to inaugurate the members area which offers you a complete access to the forum, but also enables you to save your browsing preferences, or subscribe to the newsletter. If you had previously subscribed to this one, please note that you'll have to renew your inscription if you want to keep receiving it; this operation can be done after creating your member account, what I strongly recommend you to do, of course!
If you had already visited this website before, maybe are you wondering what happened to the guestbook? The answer is simple: it is now integrated into the forum, so that you can also use the new features on it!
I must however admit that these two new major changes (members area and forum) will be, to say it like that, the only updates to the website this time, apart from some usual bug and error fixes.
Maybe would you like to say that taking a whole year for that is long, too much. And you'd be right. But be sure that if I took so much time to do this update, it's mainly because I wanted to release fully functional forum and members area, starting from their first upload. And even if they may still carry some bugs, I think that I took a good time to test them carefully, to avoid a maximum of errors.
However, as I advise you at each update, if you notice any glitch or problem with this new version, do not hesitate to go and tell about it on the forum or, if you prefer, by sending me an e-mail.
I'm now leaving you on these words, to let you discover this update, and, once again, please accept all my apologies for the lateness.
At least! The site had been offline for six months because of the bankruptcy of the FranceOnLine web hoster...
Today, to celebrate its fourth birthday, FufuWorld is back, hosted by Celeonet, with a new design, replacing the old one which had been here for already three years! This new look has been designed to enhance your experience with this website, with better organized pages and a clearer layout; it has also been designed with the long-time visitors in mind, who should be happy to see that most of the elements from the previous version have been kept. Moreover, this new version is totally compatible with Mozilla Firefox, because it is based on a new source code restarted from scratch. I do not guarantee that my pages fully respect the standards defined by the W3C, but the only fact that they are totally supported by Mozilla Firefox (and, so, certainly, by another alternative browsers such as Netscape, Opera and the Mozilla suite) should satisfy a lot of people!
Anyway, please be aware that this version of the website is not entirely finished. Indeed, in order to be able to release, without being late, a functional version of the website, I had to set priorities. As a result, if most of the pages from the old version have been reuploaded, a certain number of features which were available on the fourth version of the website have not been reuploaded yet; among these features, the guestbook, forum, poll, search engine, newsletter, partnerships... so, most of the interactive elements of the website are not available currently, they'll be progressively reuploaded with the next updates.
Even if most of what's currently online mainly comes from the previous version, there's new stuff that should be noted: on the new Paintings and art page (available from the left menu, in the Multimedia section), you'll be able to discover paintings of Louis de Funès painted or drawn by my father and my grandmother. They are exclusive to FufuWorld, you'll not find them on other websites. Please note that they are offered for your personal use, you are not authorized to display them on your own website..
Having said that, I leave you with this version of the website which, may I remind you, is not fully finished, hence may contain errors.
br>If you want to contact me, to give me your impressions about this new version and its design, to tell me that something is missing or simply to ask for information, you'll have, from now on, to go through the form available on the Contact page (which can be reached from the right menu, in the Informations section); even if my previous e-mail address remains available, I deleted it from the site pages, to avoid spam messages, as I already receive hundreds of junk mail each day...
That said, see you very soon!
As you may have seen if you are a regular visitor of the website, FufuWorld has not been updated for several months, either online or on my hard disk type.
The main reason for this lack of updates being without any doubt a (big) lack of motivation from me. Indeed, for several months already, I keep receiving 90% of junk mail in my mailboxes, either spam or viruses: you are less and less numberous to write for comments or suggestions, and the website receives less visitors per day than it used to.
Moreover, I'm currently working on a MIDI sample bank for my soundcard (a Sound Blaster Live! 5.1) in SoundFont 2 format, and as I'm more and more interested in music, I often work on it several hours per day.
As announced in the previous news, I had plans to do an update of the website in the next coming months, but when I get back to the source code of the site's pages after several weeks or even months without having worked on them, I'm sometimes unable to understand a code I myself wrote, because of a lack of commentaries and indentation.
That's why I've just decided, instead of trying to update pages which are starting to be outdated, to completely restart the website from scratch. It will be, I think, easier and faster to proceed like this instead of trying to make new stuff from old stuff. Design, features, ergonomy, security, performances... all must be redone from scratch, all the bugs from the current version must be corrected (I've noticed several MySQL errors on the website recently), while keeping the already implemented features.
So, more than ever, I need your opinion: ideas, suggestions, comments? Don't hesitate to send me an e-mail or post messages in the forum, because FufuWorld is here for you, so helping me will contribute to suit your needs better.
I'll try to keep you informed of the evolution of this new versio (the current version of the website will not be updated anymore, unless exceptions), and, in any case, I'll always be here to answer your questions.
See you soon on FufuWorld!
Just a little word to tell you that I've just moved the Promobenef ad banner on the top side of the pages. This was done to comply with the terms of use of the Promobenef service. The result is not really nice-looking for the moment, but I'll do my best to better integrate it into the pages' design for the next update.
Moreover, I've updated the site banners page: some of them have been modified, so I advise you to have a look on this page if you are using them on your website, so that you can grab their new HTML codes, to update those present on your website.
Please also note that the website may be unreachable at the end of the week, as my web hoster has scheduled technical maintenance on its servers. I simply hope that the maintenance will not last for too long...
For this 2004 update, the website has been fully uploaded to its new web hoster, FranceOnLine. We must now hope that no more MySQL database access errors will arise, which were quite frequent on Free. Other important information, as announced on the previous update, the site is now available at http://www.fufuworld.com, and you can now contact me at contact (@) fufuworld.com. The domain name has been registered from the French registrar BookMyName. If you need more information on these two service providers, do not hesitate to have a look on the About page.
Apart from these provider changes, no more major updates have been done on the site, only some minor corrections and updates. Among these changes, the ad banner from the HITSME network has been replaced by a new banner from the Promobenef network, the site counters have also been updated (they are currently visible on all the pages, but they'll be replaced, for the next update, by a new script I've coded myself), and the BannerExplode service has been suspended for inactivity.
As you may guess, a site transfer from a web hosting service to another is rarely flawless, thus, if you encounter any glitch on the pages (dead links, programming mistakes...), don't hesitate to report them to me.
The next update should bring it's bunch of new features, including a lot of changes on the site itself. Don't hesitate to subscribe to the newsletter to be kept informed about this...
I'll finish by remembering you that we celebrate today the 21st anniversary of Louis de Funès' death.
The site celebrates today its third birthday. For the previous ones, a special update had always been scheduled for the event, but there won't be any this year.
Actually, I must admit that I did not really work on my websites these last days, because of a lack of time and motivation.
However, the website is absolutely not left as abandoned: the next update should bring its bunch of enhancements. Moreover, the website will be hosted by a new web hosting provider who, I hope, will be able of a better quality service than Free (who is very nice as an ISP or as an HTML/files hoster, but who actually fails since my website migrated to PHP).
Well, yes, there's still something new for this birthday: please note that the site is now available from a new address, http://www.fufuworld.com.
I've been back from holidays since several days...
After taking time to answer all your mails and clean all my mailboxes, I'm getting back to my usual activities: updating this website, my software, my music...
For the moment, I can't tell you when will be the next update, only tell you that some great surprises are awaiting you... but I can't tell more!
Once again, thanks for your patience and comprehension. Updating my software, websites and music requires a lot of time and motivation, so keep giving me your opinion and comments on the guestbook or by e-mail.
Stay tuned and come back soon for the next site update!
Just a little post to tell you that I'm going on holidays tonight, for 15 days! I'll thus be unable to answer your mails, or work on this website, before mid-August.
Also, the next site update I promised you slightly more than a month ago, is far from being ready; indeed, as I'm simultaneously working on new versions of my software and music, my website has not really evolved these last weeks...
In any case, as soon as I'll be back from holidays, I'll try to answer your mails as soon as possible. That said, thanks one again for your patience and comprehension, and see you soon!
At least! I've just finished with all my high-school exams this afternoon! So I can now take time for my IT activities...
During my summer holidays, I have plans to update this website, as it has not been really updated for several months already...
I think that I'm going first to clean the pages' source code, in order to get rid of the script error which appear sometimes on the website... then I'll update the counters from Compteur.com by my own coded script...
And there will be most probably some other stuff, some links or downloads to add, some bug fixes...
Stay tuned for the latest news (I'll not give any expected release date for the moment!).
Like you may have noticed, the site hasn't been update for several weeks... Simply because I will soon have to take the June high-schools exams, the French baccalauréat (equivalent of the A-Levels, or bachelor's degree), I thus have to study before thinking of my IT activities.
I'll try to answer your e-mails as soon as I'll have some free time, but it'll become more and more difficult. I hope I will be able to get back to my work on this website after the exams, expected for the end of June.
Stay tuned for the latest news, and thank you once again for your patience and comprehension.
Server crashes from Free seem to have disappeared, as I did not encounter "internal server error" messages on the site today...
To celebrate this, I've updated the poll to get your opinion about the site's accessibility. Indeed, do you think that you quickly find the information you need, or do you feel sometimes lost? You may now answer to this question!
I hope in any case that the server problems are definitely solved, and that no more crashes will arise...
Like you may have noticed, for the last few days, the website has been suffering these last days from some serious technical difficulties from my web hoster's servers. As a workaround to this problem, I've done some noticeable changes on webpages accessing to the database server, so that they can better support server crashes. I've also moved the website to another server which seems to work better (although "internal server error" (500) messages keep appearing, the databases are now reachable). Please accept all my apologies for these problems, the crashes being independent from my website... I sincerely hope that the issues will be solved in the next coming days.
Otherwise, I encourage all the webmasters and webmistresses who want to increase their site's popularity, to subscribe to the Banner Explode! 2 program. It's a "traffic generator" which relies on a very simple system... moreover, as it is a free service, give it a chance! Go on this page to obtain more information and subscribe!
You'll also notice that I've added FufuWorld to several online general web directories. Do not hesitate to add your website as well, by clicking on the buttons and banners which are at the bottom of each page of the website.
Also, the new "Press" section I promised to you two months ago is finally online. You'll be able to (re)discover the true personality of Louis de Funès by reading some of the most interesting things he said during interviews he gave during his career. You'll also find here some press articles published into miscellaneous magazines while celebrating the 20th anniversary of his death, on January 27th, 2003.
You can also notice a new interesting feature for all the public places of the website (forum, guestbook, comments page...): the e-mail addresses are now encrypted. It aims at preventing some malicious bots from indexing them in databases, used then by some disrespectful companies to send unsollicited messages to internet users (what is so-called "spam").
Following the subscriptions to several web directories as I said before, I uploaded a voting page where you can give your opinion about this website for these directories. So, don't hesitate to express yourself as well!
Moreover, a new information page about copyrights concerns and the privacy policy of this website is now available. It'll inform you, among other things, about what you have and don't have right to do on this website, as well as the obligations I have towards this website and yourself: privacy concerns, technical support... I hence invite you to read it attentively as soon as possible.
And, to finish, let me inform you that I've put on the About page a link to the detailed website statistics given by Weborama (far much complete than those from Hit-Parade).
So, that's all for this time... without counting all the usual minor bug fixes and enhancements. Let me finish by remembering you that, as my student schedule is quite random these days, the updates are likely to follow this trend as well! Thanks once more for your patience.
Here is the update I promised "within the next days" the last time! Actually, I would have better said "within the next weeks" ;-)
This first 2003 update focuses on greatly enhancing the site's security and compatibility with other web browsers than Internet Explorer.
Indeed, thanks to a huge number of modifications on all pages, they're now able to detect the web browser you're using, to deliver contents which are compatible with it, by, for instance, removing code which is only supported by Internet Explorer. Hence, FufuWorld is once again compatible with Netscape, Opera and other web browsers. Please note that it remains optimized for Internet Explorer.
Also, pages should be far much faster to load than with the previous update, because I came back to frames to display the site instead of layers. As a result, each time you'll go to a new page, only the right side of the website will be changed, the rest being loaded only once when you enter the site: the time required to download the pages is thus significantly reduced, as you may have guessed.
I suppose that you've noticed the enhanced portal page when entering on the website... My father thought that the links to enter on the website were not visible enough... so I corrected that, and added by the way a short description of what can be found on the website... Don't hesitate to give me your opinion about this new layout.
Apart from all that stuff, you can also find on the links page three new websites about Fufu, including the two websites from Jean Fournier, one being a fanclub where we can exchange info and files about Louis, and the other one being a little website dedicated to Louis. Don't hesitate to visit them!
Several other small enhancements are also here for this relatively important site update: the estimated file download times are now available on the download page, the news are back into the top scrolling marquee... without counting the usual bug fixes I'm doing at each site update...
Well, that's all for this time... I already here some of you saying:
And? Where is this famous update you've promised the day we've celebrated the 20-year anniversary of Fufu's death, with the new sections? Well, I'd say that I'm currently quite busy because of my studies (I take high-school exams in some months), and I've less and less time for my IT activities. Hence, I still have to find the time to scan new photos and search for information to create these new section. Thus, I hope it'll be for the next time. And I do not give any expected release date, because the website may not be updated for a relatively long time. Until then, I hope that you'll enjoy this new site update, and see you soon!
Time has gone so fast... exactly twenty years ago, the whole France and many other countries where saddened after the most famous journalists announced that you passed away. This day, a big part of the French comic cinema world lost something. And, even today, no actor has succeeded in having your talent, despite the professionalism of many.
Today, more than ever, your millions of fans, younger and older, join together, on this website and everywhere else, to remember of all the good moments we had with you, either on theater or cinema, of all those laughs we had and still have when watching to one of your masterpieces. You were giving the best from yourself to satisfy us, your fans, and it's now up to us to celebrate, like you deserve it, the twentieth anniversary of your death.
Personally, I'm preparing, for the next coming days, a new site update covering this event, which will certainly inaugurate a new section which, through interviews and testimonials, attempt to recall the biggest moments of your life.
Rest in peace, Louis.
This update, which should be the last one for 2002, completes the 14th December update. Indeed, the last time, due to a lack of time, I did not move the messages from the old forum and guestbook to the new ones, or the site news archive: everything is back now, including the site partners list, which had not been uploaded the last time for the same reasons.
Otherwise, I'm very pleased to announce that Louis de Funès now has his own official website, located at DeFunes.com! It's thanks to an excellent initiative from his son Patrick that this website could be created, nearly 20 years after the actor's death. You will find it on the links page among two new entries, the excellent De Funès Story from my friend Phoenix as well as the official website of the actor Fernandel.
Apart from all that stuff, I've enhanced the colors and fonts used on the website, they're more varied and harmonious now, and I've also corrected some bugs, particularly on the site's forum.
Happy holidays to everyone!
I've beaten my own record... Exactly six months and two days without an update on the website! You must be sure that I'm ashamed for such lateness... But here is a huge update which should reward you for your patience... I hope!
Indeed, to celebrate the website's second birthday, I wanted to do something big. I told myself that it would be time to switch to dynamic webpages: I thus learned PHP language and entirely converted FufuWorld to this new language. Hence, I'm now able to offer you new features: download counters, polls, comments on the files available for download on this website, enable or disable the background music while surfing...
Be aware though that this new version is not fully finished. Effectively, due to a lack of time (I absolutely wanted to update the website for December 14th, its birthday...), I don't have yet transfered the messages contained into the old guestbook and forum to the new ones, nor reuploaded the Partners page or the site news archive (that's why there is only this news currently). I hope to finish this update in the next coming days. Thank you in any case for your support and comprehension, and let me invite you to discover the new stuff brought by this first PHP version of the website!
I will for once start by announcing some bad news (well, it depends of the interest you'll have in it): I've been obliged, without wanting it of course, to remove from the Downloads section, the collection of MIDI files from Fufu's film soundtracks. Actually, while visiting the website of my friend Christian Petit, I read that an authorization from their author was required to distribute his MIDI files. As an honest webmaster, I've contacted him to ask for an authorization. As he politely refused to give it to me, I've removed, following his answer, removed the MIDI archive file (it contained only one MIDI file which wasn't from this author... I've thus prefereed to remove it completely from the website instead of distributing only one file - the one which serves as a background music to my website). However, don't worry, the files can still be downloaded on the author's website and on Christian's one. But they will be unsorted...
That said, back to some more positive news. I'll start by announcing that the website obtained the Golden Web Award 2002-2003! You can see it on the main page... Otherwise, I've created a new website category on the links page, which will offer links to websites related to cinema in general (and not only to Louis de Funès), but I've also added two films from 1970 which were missing in the filmography, some additional info into the biography, as well as the Guide des Stars website on the Partners page.
This time, you'll be able to ask all the questions you'd have about this site or its contents, on the new PHP discussion board (forum) coded in PHP by my friend Achraf Cherti.
I've also updated all the files available for download on this website, and added a new site on the links page (by the way, another one in German...).
Some other modifications have also been made: I've corrected the sorting order of the sound samples, moved the connected visitors counter on the bottom of each page, added a function on the zoom page to close the window, coloured the page scrollbars... and I've also corrected some bugs on them.
You've almost certainly noticed that a new page welcomed you when you entered on the website, offering you some additional options, like the choice to navigate with or without background music, or to instantly know the date of the latest update, for example. This page will be considered as being the "portal" of this website.
I've greatly improved the left menu, by using the same DHTML system as my Arachnosoft website, which makes it far much ergonomic and intuitive.
Otherwise, I've done several other modifications: I've slightly enhanced the general layout of the website (bigger titles, darkened scrollbars, coloured forms, use of a new icon for elements which have been updated...). I've also placed the internal search engine on the main page, added another German website dedicated to Louis de Funès among my links, optimized the loading speed of some pages...
To finish, please also note that I've added FufuWorld to a webring, you can thus find it on the site's main page.
Here is the complementary update for the "done in a hurry" update from November 27th, which also celebrates the first birthday of the website (December 14th, 2000 - December 14th, 2001). I had to do a special update for this event, so here it is!
First of all, note that an internal search engine appeared on the website! Powered by Atomz.com, this excellent and very fast tool will enable you to find exactly what you're searching for on this website's pages, simply by using keywords.
Also, you should really go to the Downloads page to discover some MIDI files from Fufu's film soundtracks! It's a collection of some excellent music files, realized, for the most part, by Yolande.
To complete this update, I've added on the links page a German (!) website dedicated to Fufu, and, on the banners page, I've changed the size of the large banner and added a 88x31 pixels button. And, as usual, I've done some other minor modifications and bug fixes.
I've also been victim of the massive wave of account suspensions currently running at MultiMania's...
This update has been hence done in a hurry, as the old counters (hosted by MultiMania) had to be replaced by new ones from Compteur.com.
Well, I also added a script on my pages so that the frames are always displayed, some links in the corresponding section, and corrected some minor bugs.
For this update, I've adopted a new design for the whole site, using blue tones. Much nicer-looking and relaxing, no?
You might also have seen that I've deleted the top part (containing the ad banner) and that I've moved the menu on the left part of the website. I think that it'll be far much ergonomic for site navigation. The ad has not completely disappeared, as it has moved to the bottom of each page, which makes it less invading, but also more interesting, as it'll be different each time you'll change the page.
Apart from all that, I've done some other interesting modifications to the website: I've setup a new e-mail address related to my domain name, contact (@) fufuworld.fr.st (I'd like you to use this adddress to contact me from now on), a more complete newsletter service (easier to manage for me, and which allows you to unsubscribe), a new system to display the photos in full size (far much faster), a form (named RecoMail) which allows you to recommend this website to your friends, an archive page which contains information on all the updates done to the site since its creation, as well as a Partners page which references all those who reviewed FufuWorld on their website or magazine.
And to finish, I've made some enhancements on the general layout of the pages, and added a connected visitors counter at the bottom of each page.
This time, the Photos section is the one which has been the most updated... as it now hosts nearly 75 photos! Moreover, you can now view them in full size by clicking on them.
I've also corrected the filmography, added the Links sections, the version 1.1 of my animated photo album, as well as two new services: the chat and the search engine.
Otherwise, I've also enhanced the design and general layout of the website, as you can now see that the links "light on" when the mouse cursor is over them, "skinned" scrollbars to match the site's colors, a reorganized and cleaned-up main page, as well as a new menu moved to the top with the banner and enhanced thanks to Dirk Middendorf's Buttonbar Java applet.
This French holiday is very welcome, as it allowed me to made a lot of changes on the site structure....
Indeed, the Louis de Funès section has been separated from the main site to become an independant website, named FufuWorld, which is now available at http://www.fufuworld.fr.st.
The remaining part of the website has been renamed Arachnosoft and is now available at http://www.arachnosoft.fr.st (the old address remains available and will now serve as a portal to these two websites).
I've also corrected some bugs related to the newsletter subscription form, and it's now fully functional. Don't hesitate to subscribe then!
Site navigation has also been improved, simplified, thanks to a new, more precise and more complete main menu.
I've also restarted from scratch the site banners and done some modifications on the site structure.
As you'll surely have noticed, the site has adopted a brand new design, with black tones, giving it a little futuristic touch... What do you think?
Also discover the new services now available on the website, like the guestbook, the newsletter or the discussion board (forum)!
Apart from that, other changes have also been made. I've slightly modified the site layout and directory structure, added keywords on the pages for their search engine indexing, moved the site banners on a dedicated page, added a banner page on the top, renamed the Contact section as the Information section..And, as usual, I've fixed some minor bugs.
I've drastically changed the frames display: I deleted their useless borders, gave them a fixed size, which should help the site to be displayed the same way at any resolution.
I've created a news section on the main page. So, you'll now be directly informed of the latest updates made to the website from this page.
Otherwise, I've reorganized the site directory structure and deleted the unused form on the Contact page.
This time, I simply optimized the site's support for high resolution displays.
The site's ergonomy has been greatly enhanced, as I've added a fixed menu on the left side as well as a top bar, also fixed.
Christmas does not prevent me from working on my PC! Look, here is a new site update.
The site appeareance has been also slightly modified: I've added some background textures on the pages as well as coloured table borders, it looks at least a little nicer to the eyes.
I also created the Contact page, and done some minor modifications on the site's structure.
This website becomes available on the personal page I had at this time, as a separate section dedicated to Louis de Funès.
Currently, 10 person(s) is (are) connected on the website.
